The most difficult part of building a web page--for me, at any rate--is this whole biography thing. It makes me wonder what the heck have I done with my life anyway?
The basics: I was born in California, but grew up in Wyoming thanks to the US Air Force. I attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Why South Dakota, you ask? Because of the superior... the excellent... oh, all right! Their recruiter was cute!
I graduated Augie (the mascot was actually called the Augie Doggie) with a B.A. in Music Education. I taught strings, vocal music (and drama, and speech/debate, and library) for a year in a little place I like to call Purgatory and decided to move on. But not before marrying the only other single teacher in town.
Fast foward a few years - okay, more than a few - and we have three kids. All boys. If anyone tells you insanity is inherited from your kids, believe them. But hey, a little craziness can serve you well.
The entire time, though, I was secretly doing something I'd promised to give up when I went to college.
No, not that! Writing!
I'd been a writer as a kid, and wrote my first novel at age 13. It was based on a popular sci fi television show. It was bad. Let's just leave it at that. I'd puttered with the whole freelancing thing. But, as my mother told me, you can't make any money writing. And the stage fright I had during interviews was so not worth it.
So here I am, always writing something. So just exactly what do I write, you ask. A little of this, a little of that. I started writing a mixture of chick lit and women's fiction, and tried to write mystery, but discovered that's next to impossible with three kids, a husband, a new puppy, and a full time job. Who knows what I'll come up with next, though. Stick around and find out.
